Have you ever wondered how International Women's Day was born and what is its true meaning? Let's explore it now with CHUS through this blog.

The origin of International Women's Day

International Women's Day originated when the mass protests of female workers in the weaving industry took place in Chicago and New York around the 19th century. This period was the rising time of the capitalist regime and the exploding birth of factories and companies which led to the unlimited demand for human resources. Women and children were the most exploited in terms of labor because they were weak and had no influence in the current society. Unfair working conditions and the amount of work were parts of the main reason encouraging the movement of fighting against mistreatment towards women and children. This milestone inspired various protests from women in other countries such as Denmark, Austria, Germany, and Sweden.
