It takes up to 6 kg of young leaf sprouts to get 1 kg of top bud tea, and then the buds have to be harvested at dawn, when the night dew is lingering around, keeping the buds moist. The top bud tea is Thai Nguyen's most expensive and precious tea. In the past, only the royal or very rich people had the opportunity to enjoy this type of tea because of its rarity, pure taste, and sophisticated harvesting and preparation process.
