Nestled on the side of Cho Lon, Hao Si Phuong is the most beautiful alley in Ho Chi Minh City. This place has ancient architecture mixed with modern features. It still preserves the unique culture of the people living there for many years.
Hao Si Phuong was originally inhabited by only Chinese people. Gradually some people moved and sold apartments to Vietnamese people, so the life of the people in the alley is also more plentiful but still retains its own ancient features.
According to the people here, the name of Hào Sĩ Phường has many explanations. Some people say that a "Hào" is chivalrous, "Sĩ" is a writer and "Phường" is trading. It is also said that this alley belongs to the Tieu people who work for the owner of the company named Hao Si. The word Phuong does not mean an administrative unit of a ward or district as it is now, but a group of people who work for the owner, or called a production ward.
